The Creative Arts Agency (CAA) of Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture brought the 2025 GAWBOFest to a remarkable close with the GAW Literary Legend’s Evening, held at the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) House in honour of Prof. Ladé Wosornu (Zikpuitor of Galosota). The celebration also formed part of Ghana’s observance of the 2025 African Writers’ Day.

Chosen as the literary icon at the heart of this year’s festival, Prof. Wosornu was recognised for his lifelong contributions to education, culture, and the written arts. With over two hundred participants in attendance, the event welcomed representatives from the European Union Delegation to Ghana, UNESCO Ghana, the Ghana Book Development Council, and the Osu Children’s Library, among others.

Together with the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) and PAWA Secretary General H.E. Dr. Wale Okediran, the CAA announced a new lifetime recognition initiative—the Ladé Wosornu Literary Nest—designed to nurture and elevate emerging Ghanaian literary talent.

Earlier on 14 November 2025, Prof. Wosornu received the Tourism Creative Luminary Award in Literature, acknowledging his dual legacy in medicine and literature, as well as his inspirational role in advancing Science, Technology, English, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

Prof. Ladé Wosornu’s legacy reminds us that storytelling holds the power to shape minds, build culture, and inspire generations.
