Graduate School and Doctoral Training Hub
Studying Science or Engineering at research or Masters level means that you will be part of a Graduate School and Doctoral Training Hub which provides the highest level of support to its students:
Centres for Doctoral Training
We host a number of UKRI-funded Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs), where future research leaders are equipped to tackle some of society's most pressing scientific challenges:
Fellowships

Generating impact from our research
Impact acceleration accounts (IAAs) enable the translation of research into impact through support for commercialisation, engagement, staff mobility and culture change. Our College is home to three of the seven IAAs held by the University with a combined value of over £10 million.
- EPSRC IAA
- STFC IAA
- Photonics & Quantum Accelerator (Photonics in Central Scotland Place-based IAA)

02 JunResearchers from SUERC Centre for the Isotope Sciences are co-authors of a study which casts new light on the history of the Earth’s driest region, the Atacama Desert in Chile. A collaborative study with University of Cologne, recently published in Nature Communications, provides compelling evidence that the extreme aridity in the hyperarid core of the Atacama Desert began over 40 million years ago - significantly earlier than previously assumed.

Breaking the Optical Barrier: terahertz tech could help enable quantum internet
A new method to distribute cryptographic keys using terahertz waves could help enable secure communication in the quantum-powered internet of the future, researchers say. Engineers from the University of Glasgow are pioneering the development of a new method of quantum key distribution (QKD) using terahertz waves transmitted with a wireless communications system adapted from mobile and wifi networks. -

Astrophysicists strike black gold with treasure trove of gravitational wave dete
Researchers from the University of Glasgow’s Institute for Gravitational Research are celebrating the publication of a vast new treasure trove of gravitational wave detections, hailed as a milestone marking the coming of age of gravitational astronomy. The Gravitational Wave Transient Catalogue-5.0, or GWTC-5, is released online for the first time today (Tuesday 26 May), with corresponding scientific papers submitted to Astrophysical Journal and Astrophysical Journal Letters.
