The College of Social Sciences is proud to celebrate its outstanding contribution to knowledge exchange and innovation at the University of Glasgow’s Knowledge Exchange & Innovation Awards 2026.

The awards, announced at the People & Excellence: Celebrating Achievements in Knowledge Exchange and Innovationevent on Monday 23 March at the Advanced Research Centre, highlighted the breadth of impactful work taking place across the University.

From the College of Social Sciences, colleagues and collaborators were recognised across several prestigious categories, demonstrating the College’s commitment to delivering research that drives real-world impact through partnership and collaboration.

A particular highlight was the recognition of Alison Phipps, who received a Lifetime Innovator Award, acknowledging her sustained and influential contribution to knowledge exchange. Her work exemplifies the College’s ethos of collaborative, globally engaged research that delivers meaningful societal change.

Emerging talent was also celebrated, with Jay Gormley named among the Rising Stars. This recognition reflects the strength of the College’s research community and its ongoing commitment to nurturing early career researchers and supporting innovation at every stage.

In addition, the College was represented within the Positive Contribution to Place-making category through Project Eisirean, a collaborative initiative involving Anna McGregor and colleagues. The project highlights the power of interdisciplinary work in shaping communities and delivering lasting local impact.

These achievements underscore the vital role the College of Social Sciences plays in advancing the University of Glasgow’s knowledge exchange and innovation agenda. Through strong partnerships, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a focus on societal impact, the College continues to lead in addressing complex global challenges.
