Applying out with Permit Application Window

The annual application window for car parking permits is open for a defined period only. Once the window has closed, applications will be considered outside of this period where appropriate supporting evidence is provided, and one or more of the following conditions apply:

  • The applicant is an existing member of staff returning from a period of long-term absence (i.e. longer than six months), such as sickness, study leave, sabbatical, maternity/paternity/shared parental leave, adoption leave, or special leave;
  • A permanent mobility issue has been formally confirmed and the applicant has been issued with a Blue Badge;
  • A temporary mobility issue has arisen – please refer to the relevant procedure;
  • There are exceptional or unforeseen circumstances, and the applicant can provide appropriate evidence demonstrating the need for mitigation.

To request consideration outside the application window, applicants should contact the Parking Team at carparking@gla.systa-s.com in the first instance. Applicants must clearly outline their reason for applying outwith the standard window, with reference to the criteria above.

The Parking Team may request supporting evidence, which could include confirmation from HR and/or the applicant’s line manager.

Following review, the Parking Team will advise on next steps. Any application submitted outwith the standard window will be assessed in line with the same criteria and scoring process used during the main application period.

If a permit is offered, it must be accepted within two months of the offer date; otherwise, the offer will be withdrawn.
