Teams Voice
The University of Glasgow uses Microsoft Teams Voice for all external and internal calls.
Benefits
- We reduce the University’s carbon footprint and power consumption by moving away from desk phones
- You can use Microsoft Teams to make telephone calls within and outside the University, enabling you to make and answer calls wherever you are
- Teams Voice integrates into other Microsoft 365 applications, making conferencing and collaboration easier
- Provision of a support centre that provides a range of options for internal support, student recruitment and support services within the University
Access
If you have an existing University phone number:
If you do not have a University phone number:
Mobile phones
If you already have the Teams app on your mobile phone, then Teams Voice will automatically be available in the app when you have access to the new system.
- The Microsoft Teams app can be downloaded from your device’s App store
- Log into the app with your University email address and password
Headsets
Headsets are available for staff.
You can also use Teams certified devices like Bluetooth or noise-cancelling headsets, etc., to access Teams Voice. You can follow your device manufacturer's instructions to set up.

If you have an existing phone extension, please make sure your telephone directory information on Core HR is up to date. After logging in, select My Profile (your photo icon) and then Contacts. Update your University phone number in the Telephone Work field, using the format 0141330XXXX.
