Research Culture
Research Culture is part of the multi-disciplinary Research Culture and Researcher Development team based in the Research Services Directorate.
Led by Dr Rachel Herries, we provide a broad spectrum of resources, networks, activities and events designed to promote and nurture an engaging, fair, and collegial research culture.
Launching! The 2026-2029 Research Culture Action Plan. This Plan builds on the significant progress made since the launch of our first Research Culture Action Plan in 2020. It has been developed through extensive consultation with our community, and aligns closely with the University’s Research Strategy 2036, as well as relevant national frameworks and guidance.
In 2024 the Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and St Andrews were awarded £3m by Wellcome, to create a new framework for collegial research leadership. The InFrame project is addressing the paucity of systematic knowledge on how collegiality can be charactersised, fostered, recognised and rewarded.
