Welcome to UKMHD 2026
UK Magnetohydrodynamics (UKMHD) was held at the University of Glasgow on June 4th and 5th. This annual meeting has been running since 1978 and is a key forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest developments in theoretical and computational MHD. A history of the meeting can be found here.
Contributions for presentations, both talks and posters, are warmly invited. All contributions by scientists at any stage of their careers, from PhD student to senior professor, are equally welcome. This year there will be two prizes, sponsored by the Royal Astronomical Society, of £100 each for the best poster and oral presentation by an early career researcher.
The two keynote speakers were: Dr Ravindra Desai (University of Warwick) and Professor Tamara Rogers (University of Newcastle).
Abstract submission
Abstract submission for talks and posters is now closed.
Registration
Registration is now closed.
Special Issue
A special issue related to the conference will be published in the journal Discover Space, which was originally created based on an ideal by Hannes Alfvén, one of the founders of MHD. Participants are strongly encouraged to also submit to the special issue. As well as accepting standard research articles and review, Discover Space also accepts brief reports, which are ideal for a proceedings-like contribution. For more details, please follow the above link.
Conference Dinner
The conference dinner was held on June 4th at Fonn Mór, located within Òran Mór.
Accommodation
When seeking a hotel/B&B, there are several options within walking distance of the conference, though places are filling up fast. Another option is to find a hotel in the City Centre near a Subway station. The Glasgow Subway is in a loop, so you will never get lost. Travel time is about 10mins from Buchanan Street Station to Hillhead station (for UofG). Please find a map of City Centre hotels here.
